X Racing Legends Race Drivers Compete at Charter Raceway

Saturday May 17, The Wisconsin Dirt Legends Series was back at Charter Raceway in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin for the second race of the season. Threatening weather again kept the track wet making the 1/3 mile clay oval a challenge for the drivers.

The first heat race started with two of the X Racing cars in the field. The #66 “Boelter Special” piloted by Bud Stoudt starting in the third position inside of row two and Brad Weber in the Weber Motorsports #99 outside row four. Stoudt moved past the front row starters in the first turn to take the lead. On lap three the #99 moved to the high side and took the point position. The two X Racing cars held the top two spots for the remainder of the first heat. Weber took the X Racing #99 to the winners circle for the second consecutive week!

The Weber Motorsports #9 guided by rookie Aaron Muhle saw action in the third heat where a rain slicked clay course was described as “driving on ice”. Aaron kept the Miller Tool and Die #9 under control and brought home a fourth place finish.

While the weather was certainly a contributing factor, the racers were able to complete the season’s first feature event. The feature start saw X Racing cars positioned with the #66 of Bud Stoudt on the pole, the #99 of Brad Weber outside row three, and the #9 of Aaron Muhle inside row eight. 24 cars started the 20 lap feature event. Stoudt got the jump on the field leading the first lap when the race was red flagged in the first lap with the #48 car getting upside down in turn two.  The race was restarted with Stoudt again taking the lead in turn one. On lap two Brad Weber took the point position followed by the 38 of Joel Wyttenbach. Weber and Wyttenbach traded the lead several times before the 38 was sidelined after contact with an infield tire damaged his car bringing out the caution flag. Aaron Muhle had a right rear tire go down shortening his feature race. On the restart Weber experienced a mechanical issue not allowing him to get up to speed but he was able to hang on to the second spot behind eventual winner Eric Barth. Stoudt brought the #66 Boelter Special home for a tenth place finish in the feature event.

X Racing heads back to Beaver Dam’s Charter Raceway Saturday, May 24, for the third race of the season. We hope to see you there!
